Legit Index KE ("the platform", "we", "us") is a price tracking service operated by Legit Check KE, accessible at prices.legitcheck.co.ke. The platform collects, displays and tracks retail and wholesale prices for everyday goods in Kenya, combining official regulatory data with community-submitted price observations.
By using this platform you agree to these Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
You may use Legit Index KE to view prices, check price history, submit price observations, and share price information. You agree not to:
Violation of these rules may result in suspension of your account and, where applicable, may be reported to relevant authorities under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act 2018.
Official prices sourced from EPRA and Kenya Power (KPLC) are accurate as published by those authorities. We are not responsible for errors in data published by regulatory bodies.
Community-submitted prices are observations made by individual users and may vary by location, brand, shop type and time of purchase. Prices on this platform are for reference only. They do not constitute a contract, guarantee or promise of any price you will find at any specific retailer or wholesaler.
Legit Check KE is not liable for any financial loss or decision made based on price data on this platform. Always verify prices with the seller before making a purchase, especially for large or bulk transactions.
When you submit a price you confirm that:
By submitting a price you grant Legit Check KE a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display and aggregate your submission on the platform and its associated services. Your username may be shown alongside your submission. Your personal contact details are never displayed publicly.
We reserve the right to remove any submission that we believe is inaccurate, misleading or submitted in bad faith, without notice.
Creating a Legit Index KE account is free. Your account is shared across the Legit platform family including Legit Check KE. You may use a single account on both platforms.
Credits are earned by submitting verified price data and can be used on Legit Check KE to access seller details. Credits have no monetary value, cannot be transferred, sold or exchanged for cash, and may expire or be adjusted at the platform's discretion.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Do not share your password. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, submits false data, or misuses the platform.
When you create an account we collect your username, email address and phone number. When you submit a price we record the submission alongside your user ID, the timestamp, and optional location context you provide.
We do not collect payment information. We do not collect government ID, financial records, or sensitive personal data as defined by the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019.
Your phone number is used to verify your account and to send WhatsApp alerts if you opt in. It is never displayed publicly on the platform.
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We use anonymised analytics to understand how the platform is used. We do not use advertising cookies or sell your data to advertisers. This platform is ad-free.
We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Price data may be aggregated and shared in anonymised form for research or statistical purposes without identifying any individual user.
Your data is stored on servers in Kenya operated by our hosting provider. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

Note: deleting your account removes your personal details but anonymised price submissions you have made will remain on the platform as they form part of the community dataset.
We may update these terms from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the platform and via email to registered users. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
